CBT & Prometric Exam Guide
Everything you need to know about the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Prometric for DHA, MOHAP, and UAE healthcare licensing
What is the DHA Prometric CBT?
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and other UAE health regulators use the Computer-Based Test (CBT) delivered by Prometric to assess the clinical knowledge and competency of healthcare professionals applying for licensure. The CBT is one of the key steps in the DHA licensing process for many medical and dental specialties. Passing the exam, along with successful Primary Source Verification (PSV), allows you to proceed to registration and license activation.
Prometric is a global provider of assessment and testing services. For DHA and MOHAP, Prometric administers the CBT at designated test centers. The exam is aligned with the UAE Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR) and tests knowledge relevant to your specialty and level of practice. Exam fees, scheduling, and result delivery are managed through the Prometric portal and the relevant health authority.
Not all specialties require a CBT. Some may require an oral assessment instead; others may have exemption pathways based on recognized qualifications or experience. Checking the DHA or MOHAP guidelines for your specific specialty is essential before you register for the exam. At You Recruit, we help doctors and healthcare professionals understand their exam requirements and prepare for the CBT process.
How to Prepare and Sit for the CBT
Check CBT requirement for your specialty
DHA and other UAE health authorities specify which specialties require the Computer-Based Test. Not all roles require CBT; some may have oral assessment or exemption pathways.
Register with Prometric
Create an account on the Prometric portal, select the correct exam (e.g. DHA Prometric CBT), and choose your specialty. Pay the exam fee and select your test center and date.
Prepare for the exam
Use official or recommended study materials. DHA and Prometric may provide topic outlines. Allow sufficient time for revision based on your specialty and experience.
Take the CBT
Arrive at the test center with valid ID. Complete the exam within the allotted time. Results are typically shared with the requesting authority (e.g. DHA) within a few weeks.

Syllabus, Fees, and Passing Score
The CBT syllabus is defined by the requesting authority (e.g. DHA) and is specialty-specific. Prometric and DHA provide topic outlines and, where applicable, recommended resources. Fees are paid at the time of booking through the Prometric platform and vary by exam type. The passing score is set by the health authority and is typically communicated when you schedule your test. Results are sent to the authority; you will be notified of pass or fail and any next steps (e.g. registration) accordingly.
Preparation tips: Start by confirming whether your specialty requires the CBT or an alternative assessment. Use official or recommended study materials, practice time management, and ensure you have valid ID and confirmation details for the test day. If you have already completed Primary Source Verification, plan your exam date so that you can proceed to registration without delay once you pass. Our team can help you understand the timeline and requirements for your specialty.
